Mainstreet Edgerton: Danielle Tanner and Jeff Lyon present to discuss Mainstreet Edgerton. Trying to bring back some old events as well as add new. Truck pulls, Amazing Race-Edgerton Edition, Big Little Fall Fest, Clem Awards, Taste of Trivia are all coming back in 2026. This is in addition to Edgerton Homecoming, Townwide Garage Sales, Trunk or Treat, and working on a new arrival experience for Santa, to avoid dealing with inclement weather. Lyon believes Mainstreet’s success is based on benefiting the whole Village and bringing business to Edgerton. The organization is asking for us to be a Platinum Investor in Mainstreet Edgerton again this year.

Leslie applauded Jeff Lyon for Mainstreet’s social media presence.

6 o’clock on Main- meant to be space for listening & relationship building. People can talk openly about things without pressure to produce outcomes. We are starting out small, intentionally. The first of 4 small events is January 27th at 6:00pm at the Edgerton Church of Christ. There will be a meeting each month until April.

The final pitch tonight is a proposed community project for Miller Park. This began as a performance venue and has morphed into something bigger than that. Miller Park hosts a lot of larger gatherings. The Veterans Memorial & Pavilion is an idea to create a permanent, well-designed facility for future events. Funding will be done through fundraising, donations, etc. We are looking at the possibility of changing from 501(c)6 to 501(c)3. The goal is to gift to the Village once it is completed.

Jeff Lyon is looking for permission to pursue this endeavor, otherwise he will not waste anyone’s time. The plan is for it to be a concrete structure with a metal roof that is essentially maintenance-free.

Administrator Update by Dawn Fitzcharles:

  • Sent notice by email about Legislative Day, let us know if you’d like to go
  • We are traveling to DC at end of February to talk with elected officials and discuss Public Power
  • Hazard Mitigation Plan- forwarded to Council, bringing Resolution to Council February 4
  • January 28th Planning Commission Meeting for property located on E Lynn St
  • In lieu of spending exponential amount of time preparing financial reporting statements and Hinkle Notes, we secured services of Douglas Zimmerman- he is going to assist us with the financial report and give us necessary administrative services to make sure project files are 150%- all i’s dotted and t’s crossed. Per hour agreement with a maximum. We will trigger a federal audit this year because of dollars. Zimmerman’s experience provides a certain level of comfort.
