Mainstreet Edgerton 250th Community Celebration: Leslie contacted a local baker who is willing to provide 14 dozen cupcakes. Leslie suggested no more than $350 to cover the cost of cupcakes, plates, napkins, and possibly table décor for the Community celebration of America’s 250th anniversary that will be hosted in the Lewis E Brown Community Center. This is a great opportunity to get people into the building to check it out. We have discussed this serving as a “soft opening” of the building.

Resolution No 2026-008: This is an annual Resolution that we pass each year after the budget commission determines the amount of tax that we will receive from real estate tax. It is listed on the Resolution what they expect the general fund and the fire fund to receive. Those could vary, based on delinquencies or collections from the past. Once approved, we will file with the Auditor’s office. Also, each member is required to sign the Resolution.

Ordinance No 1168: Doug referenced this in his report. There is capital funding available in our newly developed utility fund established in January from the AMPT sale. We will use some of that funding, and ask for an additional $375k out of the electric fund. This will leave us with a fund balance just shy of $2 million and will reduce the carryover down to 8.11 months. Standard audit carryover is 3 months. Bowsher inquired about the budget transfer in the fire department. With fuel prices rising and operating expenses increasing, we need to move funds from one family to another. We are not increasing the budget, just transferring within the fire department.

VILLAGE OF EDGERTON ORDINANCE NO 1168

Council Discussion:

Councilman Bowsher inquired about the status of the Sherwood Administrator assisting with a few projects. She declined.

Bowsher also asked if the Stadium Drive extension is on the docket? It is on the radar but most likely not this year since we already have a full schedule of projects.

Council Member Blinzler questioned whose responsibility it is to clean the sidewalk area in front of downtown stores? It is the store owners’ responsibility. Sharon and Pam have been pulling weeds downtown.

Councilman Wallace suggested holding an upcoming Council Meeting in the new Community Center. All thought that was a great idea and will happen possibly in August; considering August 5th.

Council Member Leslie VanAusdale will not be present at the July 15th meeting as she will be on a family vacation.

Leslie commented about the updates to the Community Center application, lease agreement and fee schedule; included the removal of fee for alcohol and removal of fee for event security. Administration will monitor events serving and/or selling alcohol by the application. Selling alcohol, either per drink or drink included in ticket price, requires obtaining an alcohol permit through the State of Ohio. This also determines if additional insurance coverage is required. The Village may require security personnel. Amanda will circulate the updated lease and fee schedule and will send it to Rick Hanson for the Lewie website.

Councilman Wallace questioned the new community building landscaping. Leslie informed him that it has been discussed; looking to place stone for the time being and keep it simple.
